“It’s a bag. With stuff in it.” Knife said, handing it to Fan.
Hesitantly, Fan reached over and peeked inside. His eyes went wide. “Muffins?” he whispered, as if he’d discovered a lost treasure.
“They were buy-one-get-one-free,” Knife lied, the words coming easily. It was a safe lie. A plausible deniability lie. “I couldn’t eat both. Didn’t want it to go to waste.”

He found running to be a monumental waste of time. That is, until he went to a meet and saw Rhodey for the first time.
