In forest management, to start this burn process manually used to be called ‘a controlled burn’, but this name was deemed dangerous because you can never really control fire. It can and may burn beyond what you planned. He's seen it.
Instead, you call this burn ‘prescribed’. Needed, even with risk. You manage the risk, of course, you do your best to, but the risk is never gone. You trust in spite of this.
