Summary
As the Fatui's schemes progress towards the point of no return, Childe grows concerned with the Second Harbinger's suspicious behavior. Having a personal investment in the matter, he decides to do some investigating on his own. The Eleventh is no stranger to manhunts, but uncovering Dottore's true intentions will not be a simple task. How does one track down a man who is simultaneously everywhere and nowhere at once? And can one even be sure that they've found what they're looking for when they see it, in a situation where it's so easy to lose sight of the forest for the trees? Only one thing is immediately certain; the Doctor's many Segments certainly don't intend to make it easy for him.

Summary
Childe seems to sense that Dottore is easing into the idea, and his eyes spark with excitement. It's no different than how they spark at rising conflict, the prospect of slaughter; he's uncovered a challenge somewhere along the way, and like all others, he intends to seize it in earnest.
"You're a scholar, aren't you?" Childe asks playfully, leaning in a little closer to his face. "How does your type confirm or deny your theories? A bit of trial and error, isn't it? Maybe you just need to start your trials here."
Perhaps Dottore has simply trudged blindly into whatever trap Childe has set for him. But maybe, in this particular instance, Childe doesn't even know well enough to set such a trap. Maybe it's just a perfect opportunity to tap at the door of some forbidden knowledge Dottore had been barred from his entire life.

Childe's usual attire had been disregarded for the evening; this was to be expected, in light of the formal gathering to be held in the Palace ballroom, which was now less than an hour away from starting. Dottore had known all this, of course, as well as he knew that all of the Harbingers were expected to attend the soirée for the sake of appearances, and that Childe would certainly be included amongst them. He also was vaguely aware that this meant someone would be responsible for wrangling the Eleventh up and dressing him up in something more presentable, or at least something he would fasten all the buttons on.
Whoever that person was, Dottore thought, they needed a raise.
