The man flips his hair back and droplets of water cascade off the ends of his curls, rippling the water around him like glitter when they land.
Louis watches him, mesmerised and confused, but the man doesn't seem to notice his presence. He hums contentedly, drawing a slow circle in the water with his fingers, seemingly focused on the way the water curls around his hand. Suddenly, a bubble of water rises from the place he drew the circle, rising into the air and stopping at the height of his eye line.
The man pokes at it, watching the water jiggle before flowing back into a perfect circle. Then he snaps his fingers and it explodes in the air, sending a light mist down over him. -

The kneeling girl turns her head, just slightly, just enough that Louis can see her face in profile. His eyes narrow, zooming in as far as the lens allows. She hesitates, the smallest flinch in the way her hand falters in the other’s grip, like something inside her is pulling away from the ritual.
Louis swallows, lowering the camera for half a second to blink, because what he sees can’t be right.
Not the white, glazed eyes like the others. Not vacant or empty. But sharp, alive, green.
Striking green.
His breath stutters. He knows those eyes. He’s traced every shade of them in memory, dreamed of them, stared too long across teacups and candlelight.

And when the plea finally left Harry’s lips, it was punched out, greedy. “Please.”
