    Summary

He breaks the surface in one continuous movement. His body cuts through the water as he descends, blinking rapidly to regain his vision. Just like that the world quietens down — no more waves, or wings flapping above him; all distractions become void as he is submerged. It is what he’s always loved the most, that feeling of weightlessness as the brine flows past his limbs, cool like the chills of early Loutgao. The light moves slowly along his outstretched fingers as he continues to dive into the deep.

    He wonders what he'll find.

When Naoki stops to help a creature he finds hooked to a rock in the ocean, he's thrown out of the confines of his unremarkable life. Together, they wade through the mysteries of the Island: from his Ohy's disappearance, up to the suspicious organisation following their every move.

Kalypso is vast and its tides are strong, with sirens and beasts abound. And at the very tip of the volcano that is the City of Gos, she awaits them.

For Naoki, it is only the beginning.

    Summary

There is a distance between memory and reality and it doesn’t always look as you’d expect it to. Sometimes it’s a tangible thing, a long stretch of deserted back roads. Pavement, patched and faded from years of weather and wear. Sometimes, it doesn’t have a look at all, but a sound. The whirr and buzz of an old Polaroid camera printing a photo.

There is a distance between then and now. Sometimes the distance is small, just the space of an exhale. Sometimes it’s fathomless, like the fall from heaven to earth.

Castiel is a man making his way across the chasm between divinity and humanity. A distance between who he was, and who he is now. Along the way he learns about himself, the family he finds, the memories he makes, and all of the moments he manages to capture in-between.

or a canon-divergent, case-fic about what should have happened after Castiel fell, the happy ending he and Dean really deserved.

    Summary

In his 2009 book on Captain America comic books, war photography, and American propaganda, Everett claims: “There is nothing to suggest that either the graphic novels issued during the war or the photographs taken during Rogers’ stay with the Howling Commandos can serve as a basis for a queer reading of Rogers and Barnes’ relationship. But even more importantly, there is nothing to suggest that such a relationship ever existed in the first place, and as such, those queer readings are not only misguided, but also libelous” (197).

[from: Lynn E. Anderson, Captain America: Behind the Mask. Steve Rogers and the Contemporary Hero Narrative (New York: Palgrave Macmillan, 2012), p. 242.]

In the aftermath of Steve's return to the world of the living and the battle of New York, the academia and the Internet react.
