“...Look,” he finally starts, hoping he looks more composed than he feels. “Dog Man and I have a deal. Of course I wanna spend Christmas with you. But he wants to as well. And he’s your dad too. That’s why we’re compromising,” he explains, clasping his fingers together. “That’s why we alternate Christmases.”
“So why don’t we just spend it all together?” Li’l Petey insists, confusion starting to lace his tone. “If we spend it all together, then we don’t have to alternate. You and Dog Man don’t have to spend Christmas without me and I don’t have to miss anyone. Win-win!”
“No way,” Petey tells him, not liking the route this conversation was taking.
“Yes way,” he retorts, refusing to take a no without a valid explanation.
