Dan Heng wakes up feeling like ants have begun biting their way through his flesh as flames dance across his skin.
He’s physically shaking from the fluctuating temperatures in his body and he can hardly think through the hazy cloud engulfing his brain.
He needs… he needs something. He doesn’t know what, but he crawls out of his bed anyway to seek it out. The task is much harder than usual, his instincts whining to return back to the bed, to where he is comfortable and knows he is safe.
Dan Heng stumbles out of the warm room, leaving the comfort of his nest. Only temporarily, he comforts himself, even as a whine slips from his mouth.
He spots the one he is finding quickly, and he feels himself becoming wet as he drinks in the sight. The man hasn’t moved from the couch, seemingly deep in sleep.

“That’s it,” Dan Feng said. “I knew I shouldn’t have let you live by yourself. You’re coming back with me.”
“What? No!” Dan Heng stammers, his voice rising. By this point, he doesn’t doubt that the whole complex can overhear their entire conversation. “I’m gonna die if I go back to that hellhole!”
“Well, you’re gonna die if you’re gonna stay here!”
“A-Feng, you have to understand! Please..” Dan Heng pleads, although he knows it’s falling on deaf ears anyways. “I’ll do anything. Just.. I’m not going back there. Please.”
The silence that follows right after is eerily chilling as the two brothers stare at each other, tensed up. Eventually, Dan Feng sighs in resignation.
“Fine,” Dan Feng says. Upon seeing Dan Heng’s expression brighten up, he brings a finger up to stop the younger from saying anything yet, much to his dismay. Of course there was a catch with Dan Feng.
“But you’re moving out of this apartment,” Dan Feng commands, “And you’re getting a bodyguard, whether you like it or not.”

He knows better than to get up feeling shitty due to lack of sleep then consume caffeine, then endure a crippling headache, then die.
