Finally, Zoey blurted it out, voice soft but sharp:
“Have you ever thought of… something besides monogamy?”
Mira’s thumb stilled on the screen. She looked up, slow. “…What?”
Zoey’s hands twisted in her lap. “Like—not open relationships. Just… not just one person. Have you ever thought about being with more than one person and it still being okay?”
She wasn’t looking at Mira. Her voice was tight, like it hurt to speak. Mira watched her with a furrowed brow, still quiet.
“I feel so guilty all the time. Because I love you, Mira. I love you, and this doesn’t change that, but I see her and I want to make her smile and I want her to hold my hand and I think she’s beautiful and weird and sweet and I—”
She finally looked up, tears shining in her eyes.
“I think I ruined us. And I’m so sorry.”
Mira just stared at her. Wide-eyed. Silent.
Zoey’s heart dropped. “Say something.”
Mira exhaled like she’d been holding her breath for a month.
Then she visibly deflated—shoulders dropping, head tilting back against the wall—and let out a quiet, choked laugh.
“…Oh thank god.”

Mira confronts Rumi after Celine asks Rumi to cover up her patterns again.
Rumi never knew how much she needed to be touched.

Mira and Rumi's clumsy attempts at helping each other while dealing with vulnerabilities caused by past/present bad parental figures lead to them realizing that maybe just kissing and hugging would be less complicated. This story is their path to that realization.

Summary
Unlike Celine, Mira didn’t exactly find it hard to look at them.
They were Rumi, after all, but they were a reminder.They stood there and announced proudly to the world that they were the reason Mira was kept at arms length throughout their lives. They were the reason Rumi never agreed to their plans, never dared to push further than skin deep commitments, and the whole damn ass reason why Rumi wasn’t beneath her more often than Mira wanted.

Or Mira pretends that she is totally fine after everything and definitely doesn't have any sort of hang ups about anything that occured after the events of the movie.
