“Do you think this is easy for me?” Rengoku exploded, whipping around to face you. The fire in his eyes could have burned you alive, could have reduced the magnificent castle around you to ash. “Do you think it does not tear me apart to know that you are meant for another?”
Rengoku swore violently, his outburst making you flinch.
“That I cannot have you the way I desire — and I do not mean merely taking you to bed,” the knight’s anguish was palpable as he gripped at fistfuls of his hair. “I mean that I cannot claim you as mine for the world to see; I cannot kiss you. I cannot marry you. I cannot love you.”
An uncomfortable silence hung heavy in the air until the knight roughly cleared his throat.
The skin of his knuckles turned white as the knight balled his fists. “It is tradition that the Guards of both parties attend the consummation — to confirm the marriage is valid.”
Rengoku’s eyes screwed tightly shut, and his head turned stiffly to the side, as though he could avoid facing the ugly truth of it all. He exhaled harshly, a muscle ticking in his jaw as he worked to open his eyes once more.
“You cannot ask me to bear witness to that.”

Kyojuro didn’t die after the Mugen Train incident and survived his battle with Akaza. But word soon spreads that the pink haired demon, who managed to flee the scene just before dawn, has developed an intense obsession with Kyojuro and wants him dead once and for all.
Giyuu is sent out to accompany Kyojuro on his missions and to secretly serve as his bodyguard while the rest of the Corps tries to track down Akaza and slay him. But Giyuu has never spent this much time alone with the Flame Hashira, and as new and unknown feelings begin to bud inside him, he struggles to understand himself and the emotions he is starting to feel towards Kyojuro.

[OFFICIAL SEQUEL TO 'my aching chartreuse heart']
Fire Spirit knows that life likes to throw curveballs at him. There are times when he welcomes them, like how he found himself befriending Wind Archer, the cute yet emotionally distant florist in town. In fact, there's a high chance they're on their way to becoming something more than friends, with Fire Spirit having confessed his feelings and Wind Archer having not completely shot him down.
But then there are the curveballs that he doesn't welcome, like when he visits a newly opened tea shop with Wind Archer, gets offered a job there on the spot, and accepts for some godforsaken reason. It's a ridiculous turn of events, but it's not one that he necessarily would have minded that much, if not for one thing:
The tea shop owner is Wind Archer's ex.
(Or, the one where the Eternal Flame himself begins his stint as a lowly tea shop barista, working alongside someone that seemingly everyone but him considers infallible. Soon enough, floodgates are opened, unleashing waves of self-doubt that he thought he had left in the past.)
