"GREAT! Just great! As if this could GET any better!" Zanka bites out, seething. Of course he's stuck here, injured, in a damp, dirty cell, and of course he's stuck here with fucking Jabber of all people.
Jabber whistles appreciatively, "Man, you're in a mood today. Wake up on the wrong side of the bed?" and cackles at his own joke. Zanka's gonna strangle him. He's gonna rip out those bars with his bare hands and use them to beat Jabber to death.

The challenge is simple: Anyone who can get the tassel off the cat's neck will be granted the hand of its witch, Zanka Nijiku.
Jabber has no interest in marrying some stuck-up witch, no matter how pretty he may be. What he does want, though, is access to a certain witch's garden, and the poisons within. And if the only way in was getting that snooty cat on his side, he could make nice long enough for that. He'd always been a cat person anyway. How hard could it be?

Summary
So much for an interesting interaction. At least he'll get to settle the itching sensation wracking his body by searching for the next unfortunate soul. Jabber's hand stays still as the soul's hand inches forward until their fingertips meet. When this soul passes on, Jabber will be alone, as usual, to report back to his boss on yet another job well-done. Another grin slithers onto Jabber's face; he certainly can't forget about the reporting stage of his job. The thought protrudes his mind and nulls that itching boredom scaling his body. Jabber just has to wait for the soul to disappear as he was meant to and he can finally get that reward from the boss.
Jabber is surprised, though, when such a scenario does not occur.
As a servant of Death, Jabber likes to wander around these stoic, empty landscapes with a skip in his step, aiming to effortlessly carry out his day-to-day job of reaping souls—if days even exist here.
Except eventually, stuck in the bottom of some well, Jabber finds a soul he cannot kill.

His skin rosy pink from the heat, face framed by the wet ink of his hair falling loose around his shoulders, its tips swaying in mesmerizing waves inside the water. Sanemi is rendered breathless by stunning blue eyes blinking up at him in awe – as if Tomioka himself isn’t sure whether Sanemi is an illusion or not.
