"The doctor says it’s rare. That it’s genetic and it’s rare, and it’s almost unheard of for someone in their thirties to start showing symptoms, but here is Niall, thirty-two with no life ahead of him.
And Zayn pays attention. He really does. He listens to everything the doctor says with a tight grip on Niall’s leg to remind him that he’s still here and that he’s not gone yet.
But it doesn’t really help because Niall is going to be gone soon, and all their plans of finally getting married, and them both getting better jobs, and 2.5 kids and a white picket fence and a dog in the front yard are gone with the rest of their future, and their physician leaves them to themselves, and Zayn starts crying harder than any other time in his life because this is by far the worst news he has ever gotten."
Or where Niall is sick with early-onset Alzheimer’s disease, and Zayn is the only one who remembers.

Zayn's only sixteen years old, and he doesn't understand why people are making such a big deal that he kissed the minister's son. But they do, they send him away to camp where people try to fix him, but he doesn't know if he gets fixed or not. Enters Niall, the new minister's son, who talks too much.
Also, Doniya is sassy. Max is Zayn's best friend who is a little bit of a dick. Harry is Harry. And Louis is Mr. Tomlinson.

Thursdays were different though. Thursdays they came in after they got off whatever it was they did for work, loud and full of life in a way Liam envied. They demanded the music be turned up, they ordered desserts and chips, and they danced and yelled and made a giant mess. Liam hated cleaning up after them at the tail end of his shift, but they always tipped well and it was worth it just to watch them. They’d managed to become endearing rather than annoying.
He only knew what their names were because they tended to yell at one another and they only knew his because he wore a name badge that had his clearly printed on it. There hadn’t been a point when they’d gone through proper introductions and, now that it was too late for it, Liam felt wrong calling them by names he’d picked out of conversations that he probably wasn’t supposed to be listening in on. (Even though they were shouted conversations that were impossible to not overhear, it was a matter of principle and manners.)
