Summary
Instead of giving an answer, his eye caught movement. Blonde movement, just behind Ogilvie, caught his attention. Dennis. The man Jack had been looking for since he got into the PTMC. Jack walked around Ogilvie, threw out a “We’ll talk later” and beelined for Dennis.
James Ogilvie has ambition. If only the people around him could see that. If the people in power at his ER rotation would just look at him, it would be even better. Doctor Robby didn't seem to take a liking to him, but he'd heard about Doctor Abbot. And now the man was in the ER. If only he could get his attention.

Summary
“Some things aren’t built to last.”
Dennis Whitaker has spent his entire life trying to outrun his father’s voice and the freezing shadows of a Nebraska silo. He thought he’d found sanctuary in the sterile, frantic heart of the ER, but a single punch from a drunk patient sends him spiraling back into the cold.
Dazed, concussed, and blurring the line between a hospital hallway and a slaughterhouse barn, Dennis lets the truth slip to the one person he was most desperate to impress.
Dr. Robby was supposed to leave for his sabbatical at sunset, but with Dennis shivering in a hospital bed and whispering about lambs in the frost, Robby realizes the road can wait.

Summary
Most days, Dennis would say he didn’t believe in God if anyone had asked. Still, Dennis Whitaker couldn’t help but believe in God when he saw his mother being ushered to Central 9 in the Pitt. Not the benevolent God that he’d seen reflected in his studies, but the vicious, unforgiving God that he had been raised with. The God who would punish Dennis for daring to live in sin. There was no running from the Lord’s vengeance– his family had taught him so.
Dennis ran anyway.
