Summary
Not wanting to hold Till back from reaching his potential as a musician, Ivan breaks up with him for the last time under the false pretense of being fed up with their tumultuous relationship. Neither he nor Till knew he was pregnant at the time, but once Ivan learns of it, he fears the baby would only hold Till back more, so he decides to have it and raise it entirely by himself.
Ivan and Till accidentally meet again at the grocery store 7 years after separating; Till meets the little girl he didn't know he had for the first time and immediately loves her more than life itself. To avoid having to justify Till's absence, Ivan had lead her to believe Till was just busy with work rather than them being broken up as they really were, which comes back to bite him as they have to improvise acting as if they are still together despite not having seen or spoken to each other in several years.
Stuck needing to pretend until they can get a moment to talk alone to decide what to do, Ivan and Till are inevitably drawn to one-another, Till never having wanted to be left and Ivan not truly having wanted to leave him in the first place. They're brought back together by their little girl, for good this time.

Summary
Maybe in another life, Till wouldn’t have had the time or the capacity to comprehend how Ivan’s fucked up little head works. Maybe in that life, they would have never known how it felt to love and be loved in return.
But that life isn’t this life, and Till knows everything there is to know about Ivan, and he loves him. He loves him so much that it aches on most days when he can’t be around him, his heart not being able to carry the love he couldn’t pour into the other half of his soul.
Okay, that’s pretty cheesy, Till thinks, as he makes a mental note to write it down for the next song he writes about Ivan.
