Summary
An Eridian mining crew find a human welded into a stranded ship on the surface of a moon. They bring him back to Erid, to the only other human they know.
Something in Grace's chest flickered into life. He had buried it so long ago that he hardly knew what it was anymore, and so he took off his glasses and cleaned them on the edge of his cardigan, as if Rocky's words were a smudge he could clear away before finding the will to hope.
“Ah…” his words failed halfway out of his mouth. Rocky chittered at him, a little sound of encouragement. “There’s another human? Here. And… alive?”

“Grace!” he calls, tumbling towards me. “Grace! There is a human! Human!” His carapace is shuddering and he’s moving his weight from claw to claw.
Okay. What?
“What?” Not so shockingly, that’s all I can say. I’m pretty sure my jaw is making its way to the floor.
He steps towards me once more. “There is a human, Grace! Another human!”
Now I have questions. So so so many questions. Does he really mean that there’s another human? Did someone from Earth come to my rescue by some miracle? Would that even be possible? I feel my eyes begin to water at the sheer thought of interacting with another person again.
“What?” is all I say dumbly. Nice one, Ryland.
Or
Grace and Simon meet by fate, and being the only two humans on the planet, they have some much needed bonding time.
