There was no reason not to help the little animal.
Jimin approached slowly, careful not to scare the animal. He stepped gingerly on the soft sand surrounding the toy, while calling softly: "Pss, pss, pss... come here, kitty..."But the closer he got, the less it looked like a cat.
Or Jimin finding a lost child and becoming desperate.

He brought his hand up to rub soothingly over the boy’s head from on top of the furs, hushing his terrified noises. “What’s this one done to you?” he asked, still shielding the human’s body with his own. “It’s just a pup— it’s harmless.”
Jin snorted, turning his back towards his packmate as he made his way back into their den. “No human is harmless. They’re all monsters.”
