Phil Lester bumps into (literally) Dan Howell, a smaller YouTuber that he recognizes, on the rainy streets of London on the first of December. As the month progresses Phil finds himself spending more and more time with Dan, and wonders if that nervous feeling in his stomach is what he thinks it is. Will he be ringing in the New Year single yet again, or will this maybe actually turn into... something worth keeping.

Dan is getting to an age where he is meant to be looking for a bride from one of the neighbouring kingdoms. After messengers are sent from various kingdoms from both lords and kings offering their daughters’ hands, Dan has a lot to consider. His father sends invites to the interested parties of the top three kingdoms and tells his son to pick whichever filly his heart desires. After meeting them, he thinks the Philly he wants is one his father would not approve of.

The two had infamously been at each other’s throats for years, taunts and teasing filling every interaction they had. In fact, the only thing either one of them couldn’t stand more than the other was the thing that came up most in both of their shows: soulmates. Dan in private didn’t believe in them, and Phil would change the subject every time he conveniently could.
