Summary
The first thing Eddie’s tired eyes zero in on is the bruise under Buck’s eye. The next thing he notices is the red mark where his face hit the nightstand, and then everything comes back to him.
He knows he’d never hurt Buck intentionally. Knows it was an accident and that Buck doesn’t hold it against him. The rational part of his brain understands all that.But he looks at Buck and the black eye he’s sporting and knows it has to be painful. And he knows Buck wouldn’t have it if Eddie hadn’t pushed him out of bed last night.

Eddie has a nightmare and in his half-asleep state he pushes Buck out of bed, which results in a small injury. While Buck is understanding and chill about it, Eddie finds himself unable to simply forget and move on.

Summary
Eddie didn’t fall for Buck, no, it was a choice. He didn’t trip over the edge, stumble into love, but rather jumped off the cliff, diving head first, knowing he’d be caught somewhere along the way. He chose to lean closer and whisper promises into the air between them. He chose to hold Buck’s face in his hands, a reassurance that he wants this, them together, as long as he can have it. Buck may argue it was the other way around, but Eddie kissed him. All the hoping, all the waiting, he kissed him first, leaving no room for doubt in between. He made a choice, there in the driveway. He’ll make the same one, time and time again.

“Don’t be an idiot, Buckley,” Eddie said, rolling his eyes.
“I’m not a idiot,” Buck said, one hand flat against the kitchen counter, propping his head up on his other elbow, more out of necessity than a desire to recline.
“I didn’t say you were,” he said, though it came out a bit garbled. “I said—“ he blinked once, pressing his eyelids shut for a long moment— “not to be.”
“You think I’m stupid,” Buck said. “You always thought you were smarter than me, better than me, you have.”
They were a bit more drunk than they had intended to be, which had probably been Buck’s fault, but honestly, Eddie’s mind wasn’t clear enough to be throwing blame around.
And stupidly, he said, “don’t be stupid.”

Stiles could feel Derek’s blistering fingers against the small of his back, the ache in his body easing away. He didn’t say anything as Derek moved past him, leading them out to the gravel driveway where the Camaro was parked. He knew he shouldn’t look back. He could already feel how his hair was standing up on the back of his neck. He tried to take deep breaths, but there was a terrible pressure against his chest, one that threatened to build until he fucking turned around.
