Summary
Neil had a lot of secrets. He didn’t want much in life except to live quietly, run his botanical store, upload TikToks covering plant care, and for not a single person to find out that he’s the best-selling author N.A.J who published one book anonymously five years prior and disappeared. His life takes a turn when his literary agent tracks him down for a follow-up book with the theme of feeling settled and at peace. Two things Neil is not.
Thus begins his journey of planting roots in a town he’s lived in for years, starting with making friends with people who have tried to bring him into their circle. As Neil gets closer to them and his secrets become less guarded, there’s still that one big secret he intends on taking to his grave. But the closer he gets to his friends the closer he unknowingly gets to that secret being revealed.

I have never read something thats made me want to joyously cry in every language i know
it is incredibly deep and i felt layers in good omens, myself, romance, spiritualism, SCOTLAND - that i havent felt in Years and i am. Star struck. I am ruined for other romance now
shout-out to Portree, the biggest town on isle of skye and the best chip shop in the world, taste-tested by myself in 2017
Kind of felt like this was written for me specifically, a cottagecore gay who has studied and gotten married in scotland/isle of skye. It was definitely written by someone who truly loves the scottish highlands

Summary
Wymack’s voice trails off, words stuttering to an abrupt stop. All heads turn, slowly following the path of Wymack’s gaze.
Andrew spots him almost immediately - hair as black as night, curls gentle and full atop his head. He’s got a bruise the size of a baseball around his eye, freckles spattered out around it like an explosion of stardust. His eyes are the colour of the sky, cresting with storm clouds.
His hands are in his pockets as he walks by, fisted around something. He doesn’t look at any of them as he passes, eyes downcast.
Andrew’s never seen him before.
“What the hell happened to your face, Neil?” Wymack shouts, voice startling in the aftermath of silence. Neil doesn’t stop, plundering by the team and their coach without a second-glance.

In which Wymack adopts Neil at the age of 13, after the world has already chewed him up and spit him back out a few times over.

Summary

When life needs to be easier.
Quiz comedy and the shenanigans that will ensue when college students socialize outside of their fractions. Both me and Andrew know students could easily and accidentally form a cult about a rubber duck and Aaron would be the unknowingly perfect preacher.
The story of Neil and Andrew I guarantee is way different from Neil's pov. Neil watching Andrew watch his team run on the track several times a week but Neil is one out of 2 runners who always wears a t shirt so Andrews eyes doesn't even catch on him bc of all the abs. Neil is like "what's he writing, is it math, can I ask if I can see, is he timing us, am I winning, his hair looks soft, what's he thinking, LET ME KNOW"
And then Andrew walks out into the ally and Neil tries so hard to get his cig lit so he can be on equal ground with Aaron's preferable mystery twin and get some answers and his lighter dies on him at the most embarrassing time. -
