Summary
An AU that diverges after the events of Thunder and Shadow. Around the time Shattered Sky would have occurred, the Clans suffer from a severe contagious illness called the blood dirt fever, which heavily depletes their numbers. If this were not enough, the Dark Forest regains strength; its residents stumble upon a violent ritual that fuses multiple spirits into a shadow demon, a terrifying creature whose taint destroys the local environment and seals away victims' souls until the taint burns out. This process can take years. These events prompt action from both the living Clans and their starry ancestors.
All five Clans open their membership to outsiders to regain strength. They also tweak some of their traditions, including ending the medicine cat mating ban. As for StarClan, they decide they must send back five reborn souls as medicine cats to combat the Dark Forest's power. Each of these five chosen possess special powers or abilities. Will their efforts be enough?
