Garion von Valancius is very clear about what he wants. Power. Power and someone to share that power with. The first he's handed on a silver platter. Kunrad practically put a bow on it for him and everything. What a useful little tool he'll be. The second is nearly just as easy, so he thinks. A beautiful man with long black hair and covered in burn-scarring. A loyal secretary who leads him to where he is needed most.
...The worst thing about betrayal is that it never comes from an enemy.
He thought he had what he wanted, all of it. He was happy. A Warrant, a lover, a pair of proper rivals, and the promise of blessings from the Four to give him a heading in a new direction towards even greater power...

Always have been, always will be. At least for the voidborn like Einrich. Infernus Master or not, skipping like a stone through hell whenever the Lord Captain ordered it was par for the course. And with the new Lord Captain, Garion, trying to reclaim all of the Von Valancius dynasty they’re far more frequent right now.
This one, however, particularly sucks.

Take place sometime in the events of my Rogue Trader, Garion von Valancius's timeline. Einrich get a vision of something in the dark tunnels of the Freight Line and he's not sure it's the result of the Warp jump or terrible sleep deprivation.

Moments after his order The Raven’s Wing translated into the warp, and Garion couldn’t bear to be on the bridge any longer. It was too open, too exposed, and from his throne he could still see place where Einrich used to stand. It had been empty since the Infernus Master’s betrayal, since he had hit the switch on a thermal charge detonator and died in the resulting explosion. They never found his body; of the compartment, only crackling embers remained, and an empty silence that gnawed in Garion’s chest.
