Tommy gulped, shivering and clasping his hands together. “Wilbur..?”
“Hello? Do I know you?” A curly-haired man questioned, bending down to his level. “Are you new?”
“I-..” He paused. Always with the mind games, he thought with an internal wince. He just had to beat this one. “Yes.”
Tommy didn’t know it at the time, but with that word, a dark swirl encased Wilbur’s heart, a feeling that made Wilbur want to take Tommy and run, far away, where nobody could try and take him away.

Tommy had lived and died as Theseus, Icarus, Orpheus and Sisyphus. But all he wanted to be was free.
In which Tommy Soot, originally born in 1509, is cursed to be reborn, to never reach adulthood unless he figured out the Greek myth of his lifetime. He had one rule of not allowing himself to get attached to people but he would have never guessed that a foster family of the creator of Minecraft, an anime stan and a Soundcloud musician would break that rule.

Summary
The particles around him accelerate as he turns around. Looking up to see Wilbur sprinting full speed towards him causes Tommy to choke on the sob trying to worm it’s way out knowing he almost did that earlier this evening. There’s a chance this night might break him, but right now? Right now he’s watching his older brother run toward him, and he pretends like Wil’s coming to take Tommy home.
Sidestepping behind a wall Tommy whispers, “Bye, Wilby.”
And when Wilbur turns the corner?
No one is there.
...
Or: Tommy's cursed to travel through time, meeting new friends and family, before being forcibly ripped away from them every time. He just didn't realize that those people are as weird as he is, and love him very very much.
Or, Or: Tommy's a time traveler who somehow keeps befriending different immortals who are desperate to get their friend, brother, and son back.
