    Penny hasn't lived the most fulfilling life. Sure, she tutors Jas and Vincent, she chats with Maru every once in a while, she even attempts some small talk with Sam once every blue moon. But it's not what she really wanted out of her life. Even if she doesn't know quite what she actually does want yet.

    Huxley hadn't had much luck either. Especially not with friends, or family. It's part why she moved to the farm, actually. She couldn't bear her old, suffocating life at a minimum wage job she hated with friends she wished she could strangle on a daily. It was sheer luck her Grandpa happened to have a whole vacant farm to move into in a walkable city with people she could actually get behind.

    Still, their lives seemed to be missing something. Something soon to be found.

    Children grow up fearing the beast below the mattress or under the stairs, crouching in cramped closets and hiding in the dark alleys. They grow up believing their parents when they are told they can’t hurt you.

    Because monsters aren't real, right?

    Izuku is gifted with an odd quirk of sharp claws and glowing eyes- a target for cruel words and harsh phrases. Freak. Useless.

    For years, he longed for his power to one day evolve and strengthen- no longer wanting to be considered the useless freak no matter where he stood. Wanting to be more than something people sneered or raised a brow at.

    Only when his quirk suddenly bursts into something of pure horror, something more than the word freak, Izuku wishes he swallowed those words.

    Four year old Izuku feared the beasts bellow his mattress. He feared the monsters his mother tried to say didn’t exist.
    But as Izuku aged he soon found himself no longer afraid of what didn’t exist. But he feared what stared right back at him in the bathroom mirror.

    When Izuku wakes up after the entrance exam, he expected one of two things. One, to be accepted into U.A. by the skin of his teeth, or Two, for All Might to demand his quirk back when he failed. What he wasn't expecting, however, was a group of teachers who give a damn about his mental wellbeing to come to him, and make him the best hero the world had ever seen
    A.K.A. Nedzu calls Yagi on his bull, and makes sure Izuku gets the training he needs to not suffer grievous (self inflicted) physical harm. Featuring Aizawa, who is suddenly a father of two troubled kids after just one week.
