Originally posted on FF.net under my account there (Alexithymea) because one of my online friends wanted an AU Abram's universe story and won't come here.
So, without any further ado...
Jim never made it to the bar to meet Pike. Instead, he ran away from home to become a computer tech at Starfleet, trying to save money to put himself through classes. Commander Spock meets him after he is attacked by three Starfleet cadets, and that changes his entire plan for his life.
