    "I'm pregnant." Those were the two words I had not expected to hear when Amberly urgently called me to meet her out of all the possibilities of her diverting the 597th to meet her on this planet. I had been expecting something far more physically threatening to my life, with her dragging me into some mission to do with her actual occupation.

    "I see," I said simply, unsure how to react. I poured myself another glass of amasec and sat beside her on the couch.

    Editorial note: Cain's talent for self-delusion was evident here. However, unlike most times when he's too hard on himself, this time, it was for the sake of soothing his ego. What actually happened after I said that was that he gave a diplomatic smile, nodded, said something utterly nonsensical in a calming tone, and then fainted face first directly onto the floor.

    Update Oct 2025: This is my only unfinished fanfic. It’s now been a year and a half since my last update, and I don’t see any new chapters coming out in the foreseeable future. I started writing this during the pandemic, when people had lots of time to read fanfic (and I had lots of time to write it). I had regular readers who cheered me on, and their support spurred me to continue, despite how much work it was. Each chapter took days, sometimes weeks, to write, since I had to research The Silmarillion and other Tolkien sources, make sense of them, and adapt them into a story from Thranduil’s perspective.

    These days, I’ve moved on to writing original stories. I’ve completed a novel and begun another, and I have many ideas for more. For now, I use what time and motivation I have on finishing those. To you who still wait for an update: I’m sorry to keep you hanging!
