    Summary

“The indignity!” The words burst like a stone through still water, shattering the quiet in an instant.

Neoptolemus’ voice carried the hot edge of outrage, and the man stepped forward with a disdain that seemed to ripple from every line of his frame. “To think of it, that I should trade words with men such as you, base as the dust beneath my feet!”

“And what meaning lies in those words of yours?!” Orestes shot back without pause. His hands tightened into fists, his breath coming fast.

The words were flung like spears, not thought through even for a mere moment. It was simply two men reacting before reason could catch them, the way a startled ox rears before recognising friend from foe.

The echo of their voices rolled through, stark and utterly graceless against the mountain’s serene hush.

    Telemachus sighed.

(or, when Telemachus is called upon to adjudicate the matter of Hermione's groom, he alongside Hermione, Neoptolemus and Orestes, find themselves back in time to the 9th year of the Trojan War, in the middle of Achilles and Agamemnon's argument)

    Summary

Aphrodite had foreseen Paris' triumph – her triumph, in truth. The moment his eyes would fall upon Helen of Sparta, he would understand: this was the reward for his devotion, this was the woman the gods themselves had deemed worthy of a prince so favoured.

She had not foreseen his rejection.

Had not expected him to turn away from the prize she had laid before him, to spurn the very woman he had once coveted with all his heart.

Nor had she anticipated that his desire would stray – not to another queen, most certainly not to Helen’s own cousin.

    Penelope of Sparta.

(Or, after coming across a portrait of Penelope during his time in Sparta, Paris of Troy switches his kidnapping victim from Helen to Penelope. This proves far more detrimental than anyone could have imagined - a spark burning so bright that even the Gods on Olympus are caught in its flames.)

    Summary

The ship came to their shores in the third year after the war ended.

One ship, just one, and Penelope stood on the clifftop near her husband’s palace and looked down upon the harbor below, and clenched her fist in her himation until it was wrapped around her so tight that it was imprinting its weave pattern onto her skin. Just one ship, and the men she could see disembarking were too few to be fifty, and none turned to hare instantly up the hill towards her.

Penelope turned away to head into the palace, to wait for the bad news to find her.

(odysseus chooses to sacrifice himself, and penelope chooses not to let him go)

    Summary

An Odyssey Fanfiction based on EPIC: the musical, and a tumblr post I read a while back of Odysseus meeting and adopting the prophet Cassandra, who had been cursed so that "Nobody would believe her."

Of course, if he's going to adopt Cassandra, who he never met in the OG story... why not adopt the kid he was supposed to yeet over a wall, and perhaps change the fate of what's supposed to happen along the way!?

But having a seer on board is not as helpful as I thought it would be...

Everyone's soul matches the fabric of another, their skin a tapestry of their soulmate's scars. For Odysseus and Penelope, this is no different, or is it?

or: I found out that there were only a few soulmate AUs in the epic tag and had to do something about it.
