Radzig deals with the aftermath of his involuntary stay with a Hungarian host. Getting a good night's sleep sounds more like a fairy tale, but at least he's not left alone to get cold in the middle of the night.

"Ah, marigold," Matthew’s smile widened in good humor. "That’s great, thank you." Uttering the words stirred something in his chest, feeling like a rogue grain of sand flickering in there, resulting in a few rumbling coughs.
The first winter in Pribyslavitz makes heat a scarce commodity. With Matthew struggling with sudden illness, Fritz leaves nothing to chance and offers his own body heat to keep his beloved warm.

Summary
The air in the tent was dense with a mixture of flowery scents, and together with the heat rising from the hot water the bathmaids kept pouring in, it drew a perfect picture of a summer meadow on a scorching day. The balmy image behind his eyelids took him away from Ledetchko, from the mill and that bastard Thomas, landing him somewhere nice where he would be alone with Matthew.
While toiling their asses off in the Ledetchko mill, Fritz keeps secretly fantasizing about his best friend. All it takes is one simple remark from Matthew, an unintentional compliment, to make Fritz come up with a plan to finally make Matthew see him in a new light.

"Well, I was just hoping for something more…" Matthew’s soured expression depicted exactly what was going on inside his mind. He had imagined an armor that would strike terror into anyone who would lay their eyes on it, making them toss their Groschen on the ground and disappear in a cloud of dust. If they were to rob people wearing this, they would still have to do all the hard work themselves. His temptation to see this plan through quickly started to wane.
"... monstrous," Fritz chimed in.Matthew and Fritz are done looking for a job, they only need an easy hustle, medieval style. Henry, the great friend he is, helps them gear up. But upon realizing that even robbery actually requires effort, Matthew's intial plan changes along the way. Why not ask his wonderful friend for just one more favor?

Sleeping after such bloodshed would usually be impossible, Radzig knew that as fact. But, fortunately, he had someone who was prepared to offer him company on this restless night: the very same man who had welcomed him to begin with.
