Summary
Nancy had been working at the lame little ice cream place at the mall for barely a week. She never held any hopes that it would be a gratifying or personally stimulating job, let alone that it would help her on her dreams of dedicating herself to journalism full time until she was successful enough to get out of Hawkins and even Indiana someday. However, she’d never expected it to be as bad as it was.
Long story short, Nancy couldn’t wait to get rid of her Scoops Ahoy coworker, Robin Buckley.

“You know what I mean,” Robin pleaded. “You keep cornering me, appearing out of thin air for these drive-by make-outs, then vanishing like a… a sexy ghost!”
Nancy’s brows bounced in slight amusement.
“You keep running away from me,” Robin said, softer now.
Nancy paused at that. “That’s why you locked me in here? So I couldn’t run?”
“Whoa, okay—don’t say it like that. Makes it sound… predatory.” Robin scratched the back of her neck, her eyes flicking toward the padlock. “You can leave if you want. Just to be clear.”

Hawkins is in ruins. The gang is surviving in a bunker. Nancy is composed on the surface, yet slightly troubled underneath. Robin is just... underneath Nancy a lot.

Summary
Their knees stayed pressed together, denim against denim, the small point of contact hotter than it had any right to be. Robin could taste the ghost of Coke every time Nancy breathed out, sweet and chemical and close enough that she could almost feel it on her own lips.
She hadn’t moved her hand from where it rested on the floor, palm up, fingers half curled. Nancy’s little finger had settled against hers sometime in the last minute, barely there, like an accident that neither of them had fixed.
Robin swallowed, but words climbed up her throat before she could think better of them, “I understand why all the boys in this city are crazy about you now.”

Robin blinks at her, slow in a way that seems intentional, and her cheeks are still flushed impossibly red. Whatever Nancy can sense deep within herself— a vice around her insides, the ache for a hand between her legs— she knows Robin feels it, too.
“Nice,” Robin repeats. “Good. Great. Can I ask you to do something?”
Nancy flushes, coyly toying with the fabric of Robin’s jacket. “Tell me what you need.”

The angels, behind them, sit back and strike their harps through the shadows, rousing the cicadas once more into ensemble. The willow leaves whisper back in response, shushing them, willing their tymbals to quiet down, and listen.
“Jimin.” Minjeong sighs. Sinks. “Tell me again.”

Jimin’s voice arrives half-steady, soft. Heaven-wrought and bleeding reverent.
“I like the way you say things.”
(Tell me, so I can hear it, so I can feel it vibrate against my skin; so I can test it on my tongue to know it’s—)
Minjeong’s breath catches.
Then—
“Again.”
Minjeong struggles to separate desire from divinity when Jimin, their resident graduate student for the summer, arrives at their home.
