Summary
Shoto was born to be a hero in the most literal sense possible. It’s a fate he thought he escaped when he ran away from home some months ago. He’d chosen to forfeit a life in a manor, never wanting for anything material, to scrape the back alleys for even a hint of food. It was a worthy trade, in his opinion, for no luxury item or amenity was worth the expectations and heavy hands, the lack of love, of hope, of self-identity. If he had stayed, he’d lose his humanity, a notion that frightened him far more than death ever could.
He’d thought he had escaped the path laid out for him since before his conception.
Fate, however, does not like to be denied and his is a fate that seems intent on finding him.

“No drunkards at this hour, bastards. I won't be wastin' my time wiping your vomit off the floor before noon," he barks, turning when no reply comes.
"Oi-"
He's cut off by the sound of a man crashing onto the floorboards. Katsuki rolls his eyes.
"Uh, Kats. I don't think that man's drunk," Eijiro says.
Katsuki keeps washing the tankard in his hand, eyes narrowing with growing curiosity.
"Oh gods! His back-"
Mina's startled cry makes Katsuki vault over the bar to join his friends near the unconscious man.
He winces at the sight of blood soaked fabric beneath the emerald coat of the man—an elf, by his guess. Gods, how did an elf come to find his way into this place?
If it weren’t for that tyrant with a god complex and the sprinkle of dark magic thrown in here, this would’ve been one spicy chapter and a happily-ever-after...But no! Buckle up for dragons, deception, yearning, and at least one attempt at gently tossing your husband into a volcano.

“What, Eraser, you a ninja now?” he taunts without turning to look at him. Boring.
“You’re under arrest, kid. Don’t make this difficult,” the man sighs, and Shoto almost feels sympathy at the evident exhaustion in his voice.
“I don’t think so. I have a date tonight, and so do you,” he counters, gesturing widely toward the seemingly endless files surrounding him. Those will be transferred to the police now. Eraserhead is just the man for the job.
He feels the knife withdraw and turns to meet the man’s tired eyes. “I’ll buy you a coffee next time, old man.”
“Sure, we can stop for a coffee on the way to the police station.”
“Don’t get ahead of yourself, gramps. But hey, I’ve got someone waiting for me. See ya.”
Shoto was born into the world as a nobody—no quirk, no soulmate. His worth, therefore, is nonexistent, right? Well, as the vigilante Nexus, he’s about to prove them all wrong.

Katsuki carefully, moving with a surprising gentleness that contradicts his scowling face, shifts until he’s sitting up. He supports Poppy’s head with one large hand, keeping her held against his chest. He sets his phone down on the coffee table.
“Alright, IcyHot. You’ve got a kid all of a sudden. You look like you haven’t slept in a week. You’re jumping at shadows. It’s time to fucking talk. Now.”
Shoto just stares, his mind trying and failing to process the scene. Poppy is safe. She’s with Katsuki. Which is…. somehow, a scenario his panicked brain accepts as safe.
