Team RWBY's first months at Beacon certainly weren't boring. Between Blake's history with the White Fang, the turmoil of Weiss's possession by the Nightmare, foiling Torchwick in Mountain Glenn, and fighting at the Breach, the girls had been busy from the jump.
But then, with everything momentarily resolved, the academy had a short break before the Vytal Festival, and nothing has been the same since. Their grades are plummeting, the team synergy they'd perfected has crumbled, and nobody is opening up about why.
There are only two months until the Vytal Tournament, and they have to get their act together. But none of them want to be the first to broach what's changed in each of them, and what has been started. After all, evidently the others each went through something far more important than they did. They've all clearly got enough on their own plates.
They don't need to know.

“Two questions; are you sure we’re going to be fast enough?” Barely having time to settle in before the blonde gave a snap of the reins, Blake jolted as they began to speed away. “And what the hell is a Grimm????”

So when Blake vanishes from their safehouse in the middle of the night with a bag of stolen rations and a pistol, Yang sets out after her straight away, following a trail to the capital city.That was two weeks ago.
Now Ruby and Weiss are forced to leave the security of their safehouse and travel to the most dangerous hunting grounds of the world's new apex predator in order to try and bring their lost loved ones home. But the streets are filled with reminders of everything else the four of them have lost along the way.

But she's not alone, with the rules being broken by someone Ruby could never have expected to go behind the back of the company her family owns, in order to master what it takes to find freedom in a place the eyes of her father and responsibilities finally cannot find her.
