Summary
“What’s she like?”
“She looks a lot like Mel.”
“Oh, really? That’s — well, Mel is beautiful. She’s — yeah,” he stutters. “So, that’s good then.”
He nods a few times, trying to convince himself this really is good, and a not fucking sign from the universe that everything leads back to Mel for him.
“I just have to say it. Frank, she is Mel.”
“Fuck,” he says and walks up the steps to window to see for himself.
She’s there, sitting at a table by herself and looking like a dream with her hair loose and an oversized sweater on that he has the urge to put his hands under.
“Fuck,” he repeats. “How the fuck did this happen?”

Summary
“I don’t really have time for your existential crisis this morning, kid. You’re here, that’s what you wanted. And if Robby wanted you gone, you’d be gone, simple as that.” Frank gazed at her, searching for her usual mirth but found only the terse, detached professionalism that everyone seemed to be reserving for him. He thought again of Abby asking him why? Why the Pitt? Why not a fresh start? He couldn’t bring himself to admit to his wife that he felt he was deserving of this, the acute humiliation tattooed across his forehead, the loss of all respect stained on his skin. Harmed individuals and direct amends. Stupid fucking steps. These were consequences. It was shame nestling itself in his guts. Simple as that.
———
Frank Langdon is asking for forgiveness. He will lay down his weapons and humble himself before a higher power. Melissa King has forgotten what it means to be taken care of. Navigating the world has never been a straightforward task for her. Everyone tells them they’re an odd pair. And yet…

Summary
Mel has spent her whole life taking care of Becca. But when she is assaulted after a shift, she finds herself struggling to take care of Becca and herself. Frank and Dana step in to help her heal--but it's a long journey.
That scene at the end of the Pitt where Mel is kind of numb and tired just KILLED me bc someone take care of that poor burnt out woman. So this fic bloomed out of the thought "Who takes care of Mel??"
I don't have autism and I've never been sexually assaulted, so I hope I did both themes justice, and please let me know if anything is off or inappropriate. I am asexual, so I'm not inviting feedback of how I wrote that aspect of the story. Thanks for reading!

Summary
Samira and Jack didn’t intentionally keep their relationship a secret from their friends and coworkers. It had progressed so naturally, like they were always meant to be together, that they enjoyed not having to say the words out loud. “We’re dating. We’re together.” To just start and end each day with one another, to know that they always had one another to turn to. It was a nice, comforting piece of stability in the otherwise hectic world they lived in.
Mel King was the first to figure out they were dating.

"Mel," Frank interrupts, his voice filled with disbelief and warmth, "you laminated our sex schedule."
Her mouth presses into a tight line. Her eyes flick away for just a moment. Like she’s pretending she didn’t hear him—before meeting his gaze again with complete composure.
“Lamination ensures durability,” she says, like this is a well-established fact of life. “And, uh... water resistance.”
