Summary
Penelope Featherington is a successful English teacher, Deputy Headteacher and single mum to an energetic 5 year old, Elliott. They venture to London for a few days of exploring and new experiences during the summer holidays.
Penelope’s plans include a trip to museums, a boat ride, culture and new foods. Elliott’s plans include seeing as many dinosaurs as possible and eating lots of ice cream.
What Penelope doesn’t expect however, is for her carefully managed and curated world to collide with the chaotic Bridgerton family due to chance meeting between Elliott and some of the next generation of Bridgertons.
Penelope has spent years building a coat of armour to protect herself, and by extension Elliott, from everything negative that the world could throw their way. She is determined to give Elliott a totally different upbringing from her own. Her suit of armour also serves to cover the mental and physical scars, and closely guarded secrets, that she carries thanks to her past.
Surely her armour can stay intact for a few days in London… surely?

Summary

The fact that he had swiped her from his clueless brother had made the match so much more desirable and titillating. Watching Penelope’s feelings for Colin slowly fade into nothingness and futility had thrilled him beyond belief, and on their wedding night he had claimed her hard and fast, ensuring that Penelope never doubted who she belonged to.
As Anthony watched Penelope bid goodbye to Colin, an idea began to form in his head. His wife wanted – needed – to have gentle lovemaking, something that was quite beyond Anthony’s capacity to give. He needed it hard and rough.
Colin on the other hand wouldn’t know how to fuck hard if his life depended on it.
This could work.

His family dissolved into agreements of this statement. Because of course they always had something to say when the topic of his and Pen’s relationship was brought up, the annual tease about them dating was a tradition at this point.
Colin was about to hush everyone up with a loud declaration of friendship and respect for Pen, but stopped as she turned her gaze to him, smiled, and gave a little shrug.
Which sparked an insane idea.
He raised his hands up, immediately shushing the group around the kitchen island, he cleared his throat and felt a little bit of pride at his genius idea.
“Fine, I’ll kiss her.” He declared, “It’s not going to change anything. You idiots all think a kiss is some mind-bending moment. But you will see that friends can kiss and just go on living happily as they were.”
Penelope let out a small choked cough, which had everyone turn their attention to her. Despite her face being bright red from the attention, she was smiling at the suggestion.
“We should,” she gave a small nod to Colin, “it’s not a big deal.”
