In Elphaba's desperation, she chants any and every spell the Grimmerie shows her.
All Fiyero knows is one moment he's hanging on a pole in a field, left for dead; the next he's standing in a very familiar looking forest facing a very familiar girl holding a vaguely familiar Lion cub. Until that girl opens her mouth and says something entirely unfamiliar.
That's when he suspects said familiar girl might have done something Magical.

He exhales, tilting his head. "You’re anxious because I know about sex, and you don’t."
"I know about sex!" Elphaba protests, sharper than she intends.
He almost rolls his eyes but lets a smirk tug at his mouth instead. "Sure. The theory."
"Yes. That is knowing."
"That’s understanding, but not knowing," he pushes back. His voice dips lower, steady and deliberate.
Elphaba stiffens, her shoulders tense, her gaze cutting into him, as she wants to argue, but the silence betrays her. He’s right, and they both know it.------------------------
