They’d done it. Defeated the crone, saved Airk, talked about their feelings. It was supposed to be easier now, yet somehow it just… wasn’t.
The crew makes it home to Tir Asleen and now Jade has some rather difficult decisions to make.

Summary
Beatrice only buys things when they’re in season, so it isn’t until the first nip of October that she brings home a pomegranate; and as Ava helps put away the groceries she can’t help but drift towards them. Spending twelve years unable to feel has made her a glutton for novelty, even to this day; the chance to feel something new is still a shining golden treasure. Her sensory-hungry hands are immediately drawn to the pomegranate’s taut flesh, the healthy weight of it in her palm, the way something gives just a little under the surface when she applies the slightest pressure.
“How do you eat these?” Ava asks, her mouth already watering for some reason. “Is the skin good? Can I just go full apple, or is this another rambutan situation?”
Beatrice laughs, her joy like pealing bells on a Saint’s day. “Not quite, but there is a bit of a trick to them. Would you like me to show you?”
Ava nods. “Yes, please,” she says, voice low. She can’t help herself when Beatrice shows her things.~

Summary
Ava rolls over, shutting her brain off, and very carefully presses the palm of her hand on Beatrice’s waist.
Beatrice tenses immediately, a sharp intake of breath filling the otherwise quiet bedroom.
A few seconds pass with nothing and Ava starts to pull away, an apology on her lips, when Beatrice grabs her wrist. It’s so fast that Ava hardly registers what happened, but suddenly, she’s being pulled to the other side of the bed.
Ava lets it happen, helps, and now she’s hovering over Beatrice. She’s so close she can see the shine in her eyes, how wide they are and she can see them flicker to her lips and back up.
Bea’s made this move, it’s her turn now. Ava leans forward, giving Beatrice a chance to turn her away.
When she doesn’t, it’s game over. Their lips meet and every functioning part of Ava’s brain that might tell her there will be consequences to this completely disappear.
The world could set fire tonight and Ava would keep kissing her as the apartment collapsed around them.
