Because maybe he really can’t stand the thought of never getting another glimpse into the beautiful mosaic that is Evan Buckley’s mind.
So. Before he can think better of it. Before the guilt hits about looking in his dying partner’s personal journal, he snatches it from where it’s been lying on the floor, wipes the last of his tears with the sleeve of Buck’s hoodie, and begins reading.

“Hey Eddie?” He hears Buck say from behind him, breaking Eddie out of his thoughts. He turns, and there, down on one knee in the middle of his dust caked attic, is Evan Buckley, with a ring.
“Yes. Yes absolutely.” Eddie gets out before he can even really think about all the logistics of what he is saying.
Buck’s face falters for a second, his questioning look from before turning to something more confused, before looking down at the ring. His face does something weird then, a look that Eddie can’t describe even after 7 years of knowing him.
“What?”
“Yes, I'll marry you.” Eddie says, nodding, a grin spreading on his face.

“You don’t get to say shit about Buck. You know nothing about him. You have never cared to ask, to find out how wonderful he is. How important he is. If you had, you would know that he is the best thing to happen to us, both me and dad.”
