Summary
Packing boxes still littered corners. Newly purchased dryer sheets still clung to fresh laundry.
And fears still unfurled like the context of their palms, for Ash, unaccustomed to safety, struggled to keep himself afloat in the aftermath.
Summer rain could drown a body. “I think this,” he cracked, swallowing away the unsaid. “I think this is going to be the hard part, Eiji.”
A new house, two phonecalls, and the petals of a gift pressed between hardcovers: Ash and Eiji in the aftermath.

Summary
Feeling lonely has never been something that was foreign to Sakurayashiki Kaoru, it was always the default. He didn't have siblings, or cousins, or aunts and uncles; instead, he had toys, and books, and board games to keep him company. Then the loud-mouth, dirt-eating, snot-nosed Nanjo Kojiro pushed his way into his life and turned his world completely upside down.
A quiet night washing dishes side by side, Kaoru dries and Kojiro washes. They're not talking, not because they're angry or contempt, but because their presence is enough. Kaoru scoffs at him, "This still has suds."
"Oh Im sorry your majesty." Kojiro squints, taking the plate and spraying it to splash Kaoru a little bit, "Oops.."
"You did that on purpose!"
"No," he says, scooping some of the suds from the sink into his hand before blowing it at him "I did that on purpose though."
Kaoru laughs loudly, starting a soap fight with Kojiro until they were both covered with it. Kojiro lets out a laugh, picking Kaoru up and taking him to the bathroom, smiling brightly at him. They're happy, and there's nothing that could really make that better. From love in childhood to adulthood, they'd gone through it all.

Summary
Like skateboarding, vulnerability is a learned skill.
Miya decided to take matters into his own hands. After a challenging few days, he finally lets the emotional side of himself win and goes to Reki's house to talk to him. Unfortunately for him, Reki isn't home. Fortunately for him, his younger sister Koyomi is home and eager to make his acquaintance.
“Would you teach me?”
Miya’s eyes widened. It struck him that he didn’t even know the girl’s name. Now, she wanted him to teach her how to skate? They’d barely even met.
“Okay,” Miya said. He wasn’t exactly sure what he’d gotten himself into. But a blinding smile (not dissimilar to her sibling’s) made him feel like it might be okay.

Summary
It’s just-
He hasn’t. Bothered Miya in a while. A good few weeks, actually. Because Miya is mad at him. Which? Fair. Reki was a total dick to the kid, basically ghosted him -and everyone else, truthfully-, and then never properly apologized. They’ve talked since then, but also not really. Not about anything important. Because Reki is a coward. Miya has every right to be pissed at him.
But.
Reki… doesn’t want Miya to keep being pissed at him. As snappy, haughty, and holier than thou the stupid little catboy demon can be, he’s Reki’s friend. Reki… misses him, and shit. (Don’t repeat that. To anyone.)
———
(Or: an unstoppable force (emotionally constipated teenage boy who refuses to admit anything is wrong) meets an immovable object (scorned thirteen year old)).
Spoiler: The winner is absolutely no one.
