A considerable time has passed since the crisis in Fontaine when Arlecchino is unexpectedly called for a late-night meeting with Furina, the nation's once most beloved Archon. Intrigued by the request from the woman she had not seen since they last parted ways in such dramatic circumstances, Arlecchino does not expect what awaits her in Furina's apartment. It seems that Fontaine's former star has been hiding a lot from the world.
(Newly mortal Furina discovers she's an omega, and Arlecchino comes across her during her first heat. A rather interesting encounter develops from there.)

The Knave has no stake in the former Archon’s choices. Regardless of what happens, the outcome, whether it may be good or ill, will not affect her. But still… to erase a life, to destroy the very essence of a person and let another one usurp their place… It feels damning, sacrilegious even. A mockery to all that was sacrificed.
So she asks, one last time, even though she knows the answer. One final attempt, to save a soul beyond saving.
The former Archon stares back at her with eyes that have long since given up on hope.
“What have I got left to lose?”

After the trial of the Archon, Furina comes to the Knave with a desperate plea- erase 500 years of memories for a chance at the life she never had. Arlecchino agrees and suffers the consequences.

Summary
Alongside duties as a Harbinger, Arlecchino was also the leader of the House of The Hearth—the Father of the children there; how could Furina possibly keep a father away from their children? She wanted to. She wanted them all to herself, and it hurt to realise that. To realise that they would never truly be just hers.
In the silence, a sob broke from Furina. Why did she feel this way? So unapologetically selfish? And, still, with all of Arlecchino’s attention on her—the one thing she desperately needed most—she still felt unloved. Small, shaky hands caressed the multi-coloured locks splayed on the pillow, admiring the splash of red in the woman's long and graceful hair.
It hurt to want after being unwanted for so long.

The Knave sat on the side of the bed, looking down at the Archon and careful not to avert her gaze from the faintly emanating blue glow. As she observed, a sense of empathy ran through her heart; she knew all too well what the Archon had endured. Centuries that would have shattered mere mortals and a performance of grief deep enough to deceive even the heavenly principles; it all made this moment feel ironic.
Little Archon, the one who has fooled the heavenly principles yet adorns a vision, you have truly captivated my gaze…
Furina awakens, not fully conscious yet, she surveys the unfamiliar surroundings and wonders where she was; recalling the hazy memories of last night, she realizes it must have been the Knave who brought her here.

Arlecchino takes a deep breath before exhaling against Furina’s throat. It’s as if Arlecchino can taste her already, as if Furina's blood is beckoning for her to bare her teeth… to press her fangs against her throat… to bite—
A sudden resistance presses against Arlecchino’s chest, pushing her back.
“And what do you think you’re doing, Miss Arlecchino? I come home, and the first thing my lover decides to do is attack me at the door and bite me without even asking?”
“I—”
Furina cuts her off with a brisk tsk.
“No excuses. Your appetite must be unimaginably awful if you’re being such a brute about it, but I won’t have it with your rather impolite treatment. Don’t give me that blank stare! Go on—Ask nicely. I won’t deny you, but I want to hear you ask for it. Seriously, at least have the decency to ask before sinking those teeth of yours into my unsuspecting neck!—”
“Please.” Arlecchino can hardly hold in a beg as she pulls Furina close. “Please… may I bite you? I really need it… I really need you, Furina.”
A wordless blush creeps Furina's face, but in spite of her surprise, she holds true to her promise with a pompous clearing of her throat.
“G-Good. You may go ahead.”

The harbinger’s lips parted at Furina’s despair. Slowly, she lowered her mouth to the archon’s ear, her voice laced with authority as she asked, “You’re mine. Or did you forget our arrangement?”
Furina swallowed. The arrangement – one of the archon’s less clever ideas.
But she couldn’t help it. Whenever Arlecchino fixed her with those sharpened eyes, the arrow hit the spot.-
Arlecchino visits Furina to collect her usual payment. The archon doesn't exactly expect the night to end the way it does. Surely, this means nothing.

The Knave stood. As she went to the door, she said, “We have more in common than you think, Lady Furina. We are both prisoners.”
“And what prison is yours? The Fatui?”
She shrugged just as she had when she entered. “Always a pleasure to hear your thoughts, former Archon.”
Despite Furina's desperation to leave the last 500 years behind her, she continues to be haunted by them. She becomes a social recluse in all her shame, caging off old friends and coworkers. What makes matters worse is that the Knave keeps sending her apologetic desserts, and with each one, Furina is more sure that the woman is purposely tormenting her. Furina is terrified at first, but as the Knave keeps weaving herself into Furina's life, Furina finds that she might be the only person who doesn't only see her only as Fontaine's poor, former Archon.

“A-Arlie?” Furina asks nervously, slowly lowering the fork she grabbed to use as a weapon, “What are you doing here?"
“I was looking for you,” Arlecchino asks rhetorically, walking over to Furina’s side of the bed, “you’ve been missing for the last few days.”
“Oh,” Furina sighs tiredly, turning the light off before slumping over on the bed again.
Arlecchino frowns for a split second before regaining her stoney expression. She grips the edge of the blanket before ripping it off of Furina.
OR
Arlecchino finds Furina cooped up in her apartment and tries to cheer her up before she has to leave for Snezhnaya.
