“Good,” Draco shouted back, his left hand forming a fist around a slip of paper bearing his Aunt's address.
His mother grabbed at her husband's arm, tears flowing down her cheeks. Draco took one last long look at her, then closed his eyes and twisted on the spot. He disapparated with a crack.
A disinherited Draco Black (formerly Malfoy) returns to Hogwarts for an optional eighth year having transferred to Ravenclaw. He's completely unaware that a certain bushy-haired, muggleborn witch has also been granted a fresh start in his new house.

What is the plot of this fic? The plot is Draco Malfoy having a terrible fucking time and never being able to catch a break. It will begin fifth year and take you through his journey of being a death eater, the Battle of Hogwarts and post-war. It will loosely follow some canon events but timelines and dates may not be identical. The story itself is one big what if. What if Draco and Hermione started dating before he became a death eater? What if Draco had been present for certain events during the horcrux hunt? What if the war ended this way and these certain people were lost? The characters and story are in no way meant to be canon but instead, an exploration into other possible characterizations of them.
It's also wise to remember, this is entirely from Draco's point of view. Who is to say that he's a reliable narrator?

Summary

After helping the Golden Trio at the Battle of Hogwarts, Draco Malfoy disappears without a trace.
Hermione longs for him but eventually gives up hope and drowns her sorrows in Dreamless Sleep before falling into the arms of her best friend.She never thought she would see the face of her first love again until he showed up on what should have been the happiest day of her life, five years later.
