In a world that crumbled into an apocalyptic wasteland post Vecna, the last humans have created militarized camps to survive. 20 years in and Steve's team of four is the best at what they do. After the loss of all but one base and the discovery of a strange portal it is decided that the survivors will traverse to the other sides in hopes of a better chance at survival.

A piece of the Mind Flayer got stuck in the Russian base when the scientists opened the gate. It needs a host to get back in the upside down. As usual Steve doesn't get a choice.

Steve is still high on Russian drugs when a piece of the mind flayer residing in his head decides that blowing up the flesh monster with fireworks just isn't working for them.
