Are all the different segments of the Doctor merely cheap imitations, clones of the original? Or by extraction of these parts, have they become separate individuals? Or perhaps they are all parts of the collective self that make the Doctor.
"What is it that makes an identity and person who they are?" Dottore posed the question to the segments at the rectangular metal table.
"The answer," responded Dottore, "must lie in those we love."
Dottore scoffed at the sheer sentimentality. A preposterous notion, a weak emotion. Ill-suited for the rational mind, and for inflated fools to praise themselves along with their fragile egos. The other Doctor only shook his head at the utter absurdity he was displaying.

Summary
His parents weren't soulmates.
His mam’ had first told him when he was small, sitting in her lap and stroking the words that ran down the inside of her wrist. His mother’s soulmate was a poet, not his father. Hymns ran down the insides of her arms, swirling words that praised her beauty and luster, fading only to be replaced the next day with another line. He would always trace them, wondering when he would get his own soulmate’s writing on his arms, when he would get the swirling script just like her. He wanted poems, he wanted gentle words, he wanted love that everyone could see, that he could show off and make all the other kids in the village jealous.
He wanted that desire, that yearning. He wanted it all, he wanted to write and tell his soulmate how beautiful they were, how he couldn’t wait to meet them.
TL;DR: Five times Dottore hated his soul mate, and the one time he loved him more than anything.
