Summary
Sometimes when she couldn't sleep at night and was listing out worries in her journal by her bed, Ilya came up.
Shane hadn't gone into detail about Ilya's family or his past in Russia but Yuna knew enough to form a very sad, very lonely picture.
Yuna knew Shane had been learning Russian, that David had surprised Ilya with shashlik and had been experimenting with other Russian foods when the boys had come for dinner. Yuna also knew it was quite possible that these things stung as well as warmed his heart.
Sometimes being faced with a portion of the thing you're missing, makes the absence of the whole feel that much bigger.
Yuna wrote down Ilya feeling that absence on his wedding day into her journal and bit on her thumbnail.
If people couldn't be provided, maybe something else from home could be.

Summary
Shane Hollander agrees to identify Skittle flavours by kissing them off his husband. Naturally, he gets competitive and naturally, Ilya starts cheating.
Somewhere between mixed flavours, locker-room spectators and an ill-advised experiment involving melted chocolate, this stops being about confectionery altogether.
It is, however, an extremely successful game.

Summary
Ilya’s wearing one of Shane’s t-shirts and can’t bear to take it off when they get in bed. He can do one pillow, or three, or none, or really just Shane’s chest, or arm. He’s a fucking octopus, sprouts extra limbs just to have every inch of Shane’s body covered, enveloped, safe. He never uses the really expensive automatic blinds at the cottage because Ilya hates when they’re closed. He’ll hold his eyelids open with two fingers each at night just to keep looking at Shane for a few more minutes.
“I love you,” he’ll say, eyes drooping, unable to fight it off, moonlight making his skin glow and his wintergreen fresh teeth sparkle in a sappy smile.
And “I love you,” he’ll wake up with, before doing anything else.
Maybe the only thing Shane really knows is that he’ll do anything at all to have this on each end of the day for the rest of his life.
