Summary

It's like meditation, maybe. She knows how this story ends: with her cuffed on the ground, her wrists and ankles immobilized by steel, exhaustion and pain making her pliant as she's eventually dragged away.

It meant she got to be choosy, and after a good 15 years of managing field crews of biological research technicians, she knew exactly what type of person she wanted to hire. So when someone named Vi showed up for an interview, when she walked into Sevika's office with the cocky swagger of a fighter entering the ring, Sevika almost told her the position was already filled. Cocky little bitches with something to prove were not Sevika's bag. Well. Not in a work context anyway…

BUT I ALSO HAD A POST SAVED BY CAMWOLFE WHO HAS WRITTEN A FANFIC WITH THIS EXACT CONCEPT & IT WENT INTO MY FOLDER OF TBR FANFICS & GENUINELY I HAVE NO IDEA HOW I FORGOT ABOUT IT. I AM MORTIFIED. THEY CAME UP WITH THIS AU CONCEPT AND IT WAS ALMOST DEFINITELY IN THE BACK OF MY MIND EVEN IF I DIDNT REALISE!! please please go and read their work- I've not read it yet but I'm sure it is so much better than mine!! it's camwolfe on here. they were so lovely about it all. ty!!)
Vi is arrested before ANY of the deaths happen, & ends up in Stillwater for 7 years, before escaping. This fic will chronicle her recovery, & how her life develops and blossoms w/ it. Caitvi WILL be in this fic bc im not separating my beloved lesbians + I'm an autistic caitlyn truther and am autistic so inadvertently end up writing all characters as autistic
politically, a lot is different in this fic. the conflict w/ Sevika/Vander didn't happen in the same way, the firelights, as well as Silco/etc make up part of a representative group for Zaun's independence etc!!

A sound that bordered indescribable burst from Vi’s throat. An incredulous, shocked, choked-out half laugh. Moments passed of Vi clearly trying to find words to say, them catching in her throat, and her searching for new ones again before she finally managed to get a sentence out.
“Uh, Cait? That’s the funniest thing I’ve heard out of you. Ever.”
“I am being entirely serious.”
Vi turns Caitlyn Kiramman into an ass woman.

Sevika, Silco’s second, comes to The Last Drop with an offer. Silco is weakening and his control over the Lanes is faltering. Sevika is loyal but she’s not stupid and she wants to be on the winning side. Vi hasn’t seen Sevika up close since she was 15. Something about Sevika suggests she has just what Vi needs and Vi can't wait to have a taste.
