If it was difficult to prevent himself from smiling throughout their match, Silver now grasped how impossible it was to put a cork in the love that overwhelmed him in its warm, comforting bloom, a reminder of everything he never got before nestled in the safety of his arms.
Oh, Arceus, what would Silver be now without Ethan’s tender, loving soul complimenting his righteous, pure heart— the other half of him whose presence made him whole, as both his rival and life-long partner?
Or: their title as ultimate rivals and lovers was soon tested after the end of their Arceus Cup match, as not only did Ethan have to face Silver again after passing out in a spectacular mess, but they both also have to deal with the shiny, seal of approval they now have for their romance. A blessing that, apparently, did not come from a human.

“You look awful.” Gold noted dryly, arm wrapping around Silver’s shoulder as he half-dragged him further into the house. This wasn’t the first time Silver had knocked on his door with blood dripping from his nose, and though the previous times had earned a (rightfully) panicked reaction, Gold had gotten used to the routine. That didn't make the pitying glances stop though.

"I don't care if we're soulmates. Soulmates mean nothing." Silver cut him off, glaring sharply. If his words weren't enough to break Gold's heart in two, the venom behind his typically monotone, uncaring voice would have done it.
A blatant rejection from his soulmate. Even a year later, Silver’s words continue to ring in Gold’s ears. He pushes them down, tries his best to ignore them and how they shatter his heart into pieces every time he thinks about them. If his soulmate doesn’t want him, that’s fine by him. He doesn’t need his soulmate, especially not one as cold and rude as Silver, who refused to even give him a chance before rejecting him. Two can play that game.
The universe has no intention of letting either of them play that game.

Whatever. He can just ignore the show. It probably won’t be any good anyway. Or, that would be his plan, if Silver didn't become obsessed with the show, coming over to his house to watch it every week like clockwork. Leading to Gold seeing some sides of Silver that he never before noticed.
