Summary
In 1987, in Reagans America, Peter McVries, a young man with cannibalistic urges, lives on the midwestern outskirts after moving from Virginia with his uncle. Though he hasn't done what his uncle calls the bad thing in years, his urges spark up and causes his uncle to abandon him on the day after his nineteenth birthday.
Newly broke and on the lam, Peter meets Ray Garraty a young eater just like him.

Summary
Ray had sworn he'd been a dead man. His ticket had gotten punched. Three warnings to forty-seven, and he was more than sure that he'd die. He was ready to give it all up for Pete. He trusted him with his idea in taking out the Major. And when Pete was ready to give his own life up to make sure Ray's idea happened, he knew he had to do the same.
He falls unconscious due to his gun shot wounds, believing that he has succumbed to his injuries. Despite that, Ray finds himself waking in an unfamiliar room and a hazy memory of what had happened once the Walk had ended. The only thing he's sure of? He loves Pete - that wouldn't change. But there was no reason he should be alive, not if Pete was the winner.
Not until he finds out that Pete's one wish was his life.
