Summary
Dying, on the whole, goes pretty much the way Eddie expected it to.
(Except for the whole meeting a giant mystical turtle which sends him back to Derry in a body that's not human at all. Yeah, Eddie couldn't have seen that coming even if he'd tried.)

"He had tried to move on, really tried. In movies, the main characters always seemed to move on quickly, as if nothing mattered. After a quick montage with hopeful music and the occasional therapy session, the character would look up at the sunset with a smile in remembrance of their dead friend. God, if only it were that easy."

Summary
When Eddie gets back to New York, he is hanging on by a very, very weak thread. His cheek, his abdomen, and his back still hurt pretty much constantly; he misses the Losers, who are essentially his only real friends at all; he can’t stop thinking about Richie, and all that comes with that; he hates his job, which means he’s considering quitting, if he could; and he doesn’t want to see fucking Myra, especially with the aforementioned twenty-four-seven Richie-themed thought cycle still ongoing.
There’s pretty much nothing keeping him in New York, but the one thing that is is the one thing he’ll never give up.
