Summary
This close, Anders could see that it was indeed a person hidden underneath the dirty rags. He was curled into himself, leaning against the wall as rags hid the shape of his body. The few toes that stuck out were caked in mud, while a lock of grimy white hair protruded from a filthy cap smeared with dirt.
Hawke's dead, and Fenris is the prime suspect. Such things have historically never gone well - never, that is, until Anders finds him.

Summary
With the Viscount dead, Kirkwall is leaderless and damaged, even as it fights to keep living. Anders is fighting to keep mages living even with constant fear hanging over their heads.
It’s really not the time to be strung along by Hawke who he’s loved for years, nor is it the time to be finding comfort in an elf who couldn’t give two shits about his plight.
Anders has always had bad timing, poor judgement and a weak heart.

Summary
Fenris and Anders are actors working for the Kirkwall Shakespeare Company. They've never gotten along, but when the director suggests adding a kiss between their characters, that might just change- if their personal animosity doesn't ruin the production first.
For a half-second he wants to protest just on principle, to refuse, not because he doesn’t like the idea of the kiss, but because something in him recoils at the thought of agreeing with Fenris. He stuffs it down guiltily. Why was he like this? Well, at least he stopped himself this time.
“No, yeah, I like it,” he says. He gives his best - for early rehearsal - royal wave. “Your king approves.”
Fenris rolls his eyes so hard he looks like he’s having a seizure.

Anders is losing himself to his demon, and Fenris fears he is somehow the only one to notice or care about the implications of what that means.
But after Anders tries to yank him out of the way of a curse during a fight on the Wounded Coast, Fenris finds himself learning more than he ever cared or wanted to about what is going on with the mage and his demon, and to top it all off, now there's an irritating voice in his own head that just won't shut up no matter how much he tries to ignore it.

Bound by an unknown curse that forces them into close proximity (or else suffer excruciating pain the longer and further they are apart), Anders and Fenris must work to overcome deep-seeded fears and their issues with each other as they search for a way to sever their bond before time runs out for them all.
