Summary

Summary
Under the night pearls’ light, he can see the serene face of Luo Binghe above him, the edges of his face trimmed of all youthful fat, whiter than snow under the thick smears of dirt.
He stands over Shen Qingqiu’s bed silently. His hair is wild and messy, barely pulled back with a fraying bit of green ribbon; his clothing is torn and stained all over with what can only be blood, as if chunks of his flesh had been torn out again and again until the clothing was dyed through with it all; his body is taller and leaner than he recalls, honed to utter perfection from his time in the Endless Abyss.
Then, Luo Binghe smiles.
Luo Binghe returns early, and he wants. He wants Shen Qingqiu. He wants to love him, to hurt him, to burrow into him until they blend together as one being. Frightened at having all of the knowledge he's relied upon suddenly upended, Shen Qingqiu underestimates the depth of Luo Binghe's obsessive grudge against him.

Cornelius gives him one last skillful stroke, then withdraws. Although this is what Billy wanted, he still groans at the loss. “I know,” Cornelius soothes. “You want it so much. Look, Billy.” He shows his palm, smeared with Billy’s leaking fluid. “How you’ve gone by without me, I can’t imagine.”
And how has Cornelius managed, without Billy? He can pretend it's not Billy’s name he’s been stifling when he’s brought himself to a desolate climax in his hammock all he wants. Their spattered solitudes are of a kind.

Cornelius smiles, and Billy's annoyance rises towards anger. Anger at Cornelius who won't go ahead and fuck Billy's want out of him, who won't inflict the pain and the pleasure that will allow his attraction to this man and his flawed, impertinent beauty to recede and leave him alone once the act is past.
