“What’s this?” Roy asks, opening the box curiously.
"Lunch, stupid," Ed replies. "It's a handful of dog kibble and a carrot."
Roy's expression goes immediately from one of gratitude to unimpressed. He shuts the box and pushes it back towards Ed. “You can keep it, thanks,” he says dryly.
"Fuck, I'm just kidding. It's a sandwich and some vegetables." Ed couldn't help but grin as he set the thermos on the desk too. "And some coffee, of course. Couldn't leave you without."

Summary
Set in an Ancient Xerxes, an old God finds a sacrifice at a temple he thought had been abandoned by humans centuries ago. This strange, beautiful man intrigues him and for once, he intends to take his sacrifice with him. These are snippets of the journey of a Xerxian Desert god, Ed and his most recent human offering, young Roy, and the development of their relationship as they travel through Xerxes for Ed's work.
These are not posted in chronological order, nor need to be read in chronological order in fact, I recommend they be read in order posted. however if you wish to do so, here is the chronological order of this series.

A phenomenon commonly described as “True Mates” by both teenage girls and in the penny dreadful books masquerading as romance novels hidden under Maes’s sister’s bed. It was a level of compatibility that most people spent their entire lives wishing for. Like unicorns and free empty undercover parking in thunderstorms. A nice dream but something generally accepted as make-believe.
