A new god enters his life to help him guide the dead to their after life. Hermes, messenger to the gods, and the exact opposite of all Charon is, inserts himself into Charon's life and changes it completely.

Patroclus and Achilles watch one of Zagreus' battles in Elysium. That's how it starts, at least.

And thus began his employment as a parchment pusher in the House of Hades, and his interactions with the various colorful entities that inhabited the abode. There is nothing admirable about being a stubborn fool, Thanatos thinks. If this godling wants to die so badly, then Death will oblige. He brings down his scythe and watches him bleed out again and again. He has reaped thousands of souls. This one will be no different.
In which Zagreus repeatedly fights his way into the underworld in search of his kidnapped mother, and Thanatos is sent to stop him.
