“What.. what sort of wishes do you grant? I’ve never met one of your kind before,” Inaho says, and he watches as the blond smiles again at that, looking amused almost by the question.
“Almost any kind,” he answers, though his smile slips, and he looks a bit anxious now, uneasy, “.. nothing harmful, like humans wish for. If you ask me to hurt someone, I’ll curse you, just as I do to them. They’re awful creatures.”
Inaho blinks, taken off-guard.
Present tense. As if they still exist.
“They always ask me for the most awful things..” the blond continues, and he drops his comb after a moment, upset now, “And if I didn’t grant them, they would pour salt water into my well.. It.. hurt..” It is soft, pained, and the memory clearly haunts him, is something he does not want to experience again. “.. I turn them into fish, when they get violent. Fish can’t hurt people,” he whispers, and Inaho feels his heart catch.
