Two Years.
Earth and Vers, once called Mars, have been at peace for two years.
Empress Asseylum Vers Allusia of the Vers Empire tries to hold the pieces together of a broken realm. Inaho Kaizuka and Slaine Troyard are not enemies, but not friends; they're a warden and prisoner in that order. Everyone thought this peace would last longer than their lifetimes.
Appearing out of seemingly nowhere, a new enemy, the Coalition of Megurus and Antoffe, invaded the solar system to add Earth and Vers to its own empire. Enemies become allies in a new war where the enemy doesn't seem to run out of ships or weapons to throw at them. With peace broken sooner than anyone expected, they must face the question of how to win it back.

“But Bat’s not human-”, Nina said before snapping her mouth shut so quickly Inaho could hear her teeth clank against each other.
Inaho turned around and left her flustered in the doorway. He needed some peace and quiet to think, and he wasn’t going to get that from the poolside. Not with Bat in there. This wasn’t marine biology anymore, nor a rescue and release.
This was a first contact, and he had completely, absolutely, irredeemably fucked it up.

Neither of them dared to rupture the careful silence by turning on the radio. Besides, all channels were speaking of the same thing ; Vers’ mass extinction. By now the rumor had caught fire and changed into a blast as the news relayed what they already knew ; less than a year after Heaven’s Fall, Versian population was now reduced to less than two hundred people. The imperial family was now extinct and out of the 37 Counts, only five made it to Earth.
Saazbaum and Cruhteo weren’t a part of those five, not officially. They were presumed dead.
In the back of the car, Lemrina, Slaine and Asseylum kept on sleeping. They already looked in better shape than they did one day ago when they had found them nearly lifeless.
They had to keep going. Running away and away, both metaphorically and literally from Vers.

It wasn’t every day that a company composed of two adult Orbital knights in uniform and four teenagers including the two princesses of the Vers Empire showed up on a terran little village’s doorstep in the middle of nowhere.
“This is awkward,” muttered Slaine.
